Black Pudding are a Funk band based in Brighton playing select covers and adding their own tinge to the mix.
Made up of Charlotte Lawton on Flute & Lead Vocal, Ben Messer on Saxophone & Lead vocal, Felix Crowther on Keyboard & Lead Vocal, Hugo Wilson on Rhythm guitar & Backing Vocals, Manas Sikdar on Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals, Dave Bacon on Drums and Phil Stott on Bass, the band started out at the Hanbury Ballroom (as it was known), and have since played at The Grand Hotel, Stanmer House, The Corn Exchange & many other private venues in and around Brighton & Sussex.
Formed in 2017, this young four-piece from Brighton excel at creating powerful and undeniably catchy songs that shift seamlessly between explosive high energy alt-rock and emotive indie ballads.
What are they like? Well, take a slice of The Strokes, a modicum of Muse and little bit of Blondie and you’re halfway there. Factor in dynamic guitars, soaring vocals, atmospheric keys and the tightest rythym section in Sussex and you have a sound – and a band – guaranteed to take up residence in your head.
They are Matt Williamson (drums), Betsy Newsham (vocals and keyboards), Eddie Barton (bass) and Phoenix Moss (guitar).
